Stanford/Woodside IEA Show: March, 2013

IEA Team KMT had a very successful weekend showing at the Stanford Redbarn. An amazing facility and beautiful horses. After this weekend, we had a couple of riders who QUALIFIED FOR ZONESSierra and Nell, whoop whoop!!! A big thank you to the parents, families and future IEA riders who came to support the team and a huge thank you to Kelly for helping me coach on Sunday.

Gabby had a fantastic jumping round on a cute large pony. Gabby was FOURTH in her flat class on Saturday.

Olivia has come a long way in a short period of time. On Saturday, she pulled a little quarter horse that had a tendency to get a little quick. On Sunday, she drew a pony that didn’t want to be in the ring. Olivia was determined to get that pony around the arena and rode it so well. Olivia received a FOURTH on Saturday. Way to go Olivia!!

Alexis had a great jumping round on Sunday, managing the hot horse she drew. In her flat class, she proved that hard work pays off. Alexis was SECOND in her flat class.

Sierra had a nice jumping round, demonstrating some flawless simple changes of lead. Coming home with a SIXTH over fences making her QUALIFY for zones. Yippie!!

Abby of course pulled another pony over fences. She pulled a cute chubby horse for her flat class and was THIRD.

Charlotte worked very hard this year and was very serious about doing well. It payed off! Charlotte was FIRST over fences and THIRD on the flat, making her RESERVE CHAMPION in the Future Novice division. Way to go Charlotte!!

Nell had such a wonderful season showing. She received a THIRD in her flat class and QUALIFIED for zones.
Way to go Nell!

I had so much fun this year and learned so much. I am beyond excited for next year!!!

IEA Whiterock Ranch, February 2013

IEA Team KMT had another fantastic weekend of showing at the Whiterock Ranch show in Watsonville, CA. The IEA competition was very stiff, but Team KMT pulled through with some great ribbons. It was a long day, but all worth it to spend time with some great riders learning the ropes of these competitions.

Alexis had another great jumping round at this show coming home FOURTH over fences.

Emma was very lucky to draw our old horse Caspian for her flat class, coming home with a SECOND on the flat.

Sierra is just points away to qualifying for zones this year. Sierra came home with a SECOND over fences and SIXTH on the flat.

Abby is on a roll drawing ex-jumper ponies for her jumping classes, coming home with a FOURTH.

Charlotte is working hard this year, pulling some challenging rides she received a SIXTH in her flat class.

Olivia rode great on the large pony she drew. This was Olivia’s first horse show, she came home with a SIXTH on the flat.

Nell rode a challenging Arab, but did a great job with a FOURTH on the flat.

I can’t wait for the next IEA show at Stanford Redbarn!

2013 IEA Fieldstone/Elvenstar Shows

What a fantastic weekend Team KMT had at the IEA Shows Fieldstone and Elvenstar down south. We arrived late Friday night after a short flight from Oakland to Burbank. I wanted to get to bed early knowing that the next couple of days were going to be early risers. The hospitality of both facilities was exceptional, the horses and riding were all great and the weather couldn’t have been nicer. A huge thank you to our team moms, Emmelie and Sally for making this trip run so smooth and being there for ALL of us. It is such a pleasure having you two at the IEA shows.

Alexis always seems to draw the large more difficult horse. But she never fails with flawless rounds, making the difficult horse look easy. I giggled a little when her flat class was asked to drop their irons for the entire second direction. I know how much Alexis enjoys riding without irons. Alexis was THIRD over fences at both Fieldstone and Elvenstar.

Sierra pulled the same horse for both her jumping and flat class at Fieldstone. This is an advantage when you already know your horse. Sierra WON her over fences class and was THIRD on the flat at Fieldstone. At Elvenstar, Sierra was SIXTH over fences and FOURTH on the flat. Way to go Sierra.

Abby was anticipating her draw of the ex-pony jumper, but handled it with ease, making the ex-jumper look like a hunter. She was FIFTH over fences and FOURTH on the flat at Fieldstone. At Elvenstar Abby pulled another pony favorite, Socks, coming home with a SIXTH over fences and FOURTH on the flat.

Charlotte has come so far with her show experience, knowing it’s not always about the ribbon, but the experience of it all. She drew a couple of more challenging little horses and came home with a SIXTH over fences at Elvenstar.

Nell was a trooper waiting around all day for her one class. She fell in love with a little morgan named Chex, the horse she drew at Fieldstone. This was Nell’s first IEA show and her second horse show all together. She came home with a SECOND at Fieldstone and a FOURTH at Elvenstar.

I was so proud of all of our riders staying so positive all weekend. I had a ton of fun and can’t wait for the next IEA show at Whiterock Ranch on Sunday, February 24.
